Foster

Fostering is a fantastic way to get involved by providing a temporary environment for an adoptable or special-needs animal to thrive in. The foster care volunteer plays a crucial role in saving lives at Liberty Humane Society.

These volunteers are highly committed people who give weeks or months of their time to homeless animals needing care. From healthy animals needing a bridge to a forever home to animals that come to LHS injured, ill, too young, too small, unsocialized, pregnant, orphaned or in need of manners before they can go home. Fosters truly are our lifesavers.

If you are interested in fostering an animal, please send an email to volunteer@libertyhumane.org

Is fostering for you?

Rebecca, a foster volunteer, writes: "Believe me...I've had 50 or more fosters and I became attached to each one of them. I've experienced everything from adopting them out successfully, to having them die in my hands...no matter what..it is always hard but just think of all the others at the shelter that need you. It makes it a little easier to let them go if you remind yourself that they get to go home now because of you...but there are still so many other that are fighting for that chance."
