Made in America Adoption Promotion at Liberty Humane Society this July

Liberty Humane Society salutes the long-standing dog and cat residents with discounted adoption fees.

Jersey City, NJ July 2, 2012 ─ As we celebrate America’s Independence Day on July 4th, Liberty Humane also wants to remind everyone that there are hundreds of adoptable animals at our facility looking to celebrate their very own independence from shelter life! As a measure to entice potential adopters, from July 4th through July 18th Liberty Humane will be offering 50% off of the standard adoption fee for dogs and cats that have been at the shelter for over three months. The adoptable animals are so excited about this promotion that they even dressed up in costume for a photo shoot on the LHS facebook page.

Why have some of the Liberty Humane Society dogs and cats been waiting so long for their adopters? We have no idea! These long-timers would make absolutely wonderful companions. Interested in a dog? Brownstone is a beautiful little pittie girl that has amazing coloring and gives her friends the most loving glances. We also have Lucille who is a goofball at heart! She loves to jump and play with humans and other dogs! What about a cat? There is the main cattery alpha, Vitale. He is low-key around new people, but becomes as playful as a kitten as soon as you pick up a toy. And then there is cuddle bug, Tigger Too, who was brought to LHS because his owner was hospitalized. That hasn’t phased his friendly nature one bit though! He adjusted immediately to the shelter and despite his plump size, begs LHS visitors to pick him up and give him a good snuggle. These dogs and cats plus hundreds of others can be seen at the shelter on Tuesday-Friday from 2-7 PM and Saturday/Sunday from 11 AM-4 PM or on the adoption page of the LHS website.

“The summer months can be hard on any shelter or rescue group as it is traditionally the time when adoptions are slow and we see a big increase in the number of stray and surrendered animals.” says Irene Borngraeber. “We hope that the Made in America adoption promotion will attract the attention of people in the community that have been looking to adopt and provide an extra incentive to come to the shelter to meet some of our outstanding furry friends.”

All of Liberty Humane's adoptable animals come spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. In addition, adopters receive 30-days free pet insurance.

Let freedom ring for the LHS dogs and cats this July!

About Liberty Humane Society
Liberty Humane Society is the only non-profit animal shelter in Hudson County, providing animal sheltering services to the cities of Jersey City and Hoboken, as well as animal control/rescue to Hoboken, Jersey City and Union City. We take in over 5,000 animals per year and believe that every pet deserves a second chance at finding a lifelong, loving home. For 10 years we’ve been ensuring that stray animals have a place to stay, that cruelty and neglect don’t go unnoticed, and that people who can’t keep their pets have a place to turn to. With the help of our 800+ active volunteers, we welcome over 10,000 unique visitors per year through our tiny facility. Our committed staff and over 800 dedicated volunteers work hard every day to facilitate the best possible life for the animals in residence at LHS. Our dogs receive more than 75 hours a month with trainers and animal behaviorists, and our cats are kept together in family units to decrease stress. Our low-cost Wellness Clinics provide affordable health care to keep pets in their homes, and our trained adoption counselors place thousands of animals in forever homes annually.
