Lost & Found
Liberty Humane Society helps lost pets and their owners reunite through several avenues. One can never do enough to find a missing pet, or to help locate the owner of a pet you may have found. LHS recommends utilizing both services, as well as following the tips in our Lost & Found FAQ found in our Animal Guide.
Lost/Found Reports
If you are looking to locate the owner of a pet you found or if you are trying to find your lost pet, please email us a report of the pet.
You should be as specific as possible when identifying your pet. For example, rather than identifying your missing cat as "brown tabby", a more detailed description such as "dark brown tabby; white front left paw, white spot on chest" is more helpful. More details will allow shelter staff to distinguish your pet from others that may fit the same description.
Liberty Humane Society will retain all lost and found pet reports for up to one month after they have been submitted. We will attempt to confirm whether or not the pet or owner has been relocated several times during this period. We will also cross reference these reports with animals entering the shelter and notify any person who has submitted a report of a potential match. LHS does ask that if you find your missing pet or the owner of a pet you found, without the help of the shelter, that you notify us so we can remove the report from our active files.
Lost & Found Bulletin Board
Liberty Humane Society also has a bulletin board available for the public to post flyers regarding lost and found pets. Flyers placed on the bulletin board will be removed after one month. The most effective lost/found pet flyers are simple and include a clear, current, preferably color picture of your pet - look here for an easy template to use when creating your flyer. Please stop by the shelter if you have a flyer you'd like to post.
