The Barclays launches TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program for 2010 event
Paramus, N.J. - The Barclays tournament officials announced today that the 2010 event will again give New Jersey and New York charities the opportunity to participate in TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ – a unique fundraising initiative designed to improve the quality of life in the communities where PGA TOUR tournaments are held.  The Barclays, the first event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, will feature 125 of the top players on TOUR, Aug. 24-29 at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J.   [more...]

KITTEN PALOOZA! SPRING WORKSHOP - SATURDAY, MAY 15th

On Saturday, May 15, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the Liberty Humane Society and Companion Animal Trust, in conjunction with the New York City Feral Cat Initiative, a Mayor’s Alliance for NYC Animals program, will present the Kitten Palooza! Spring training workshop for all current and potential kitten rescuers interested in learning about effective bottle-feeding, the successful care of orphaned kittens and how to socialize feral kittens.  This workshop is sponsored by PetSmart Charities®.

Kitten Fosters Needed
The Liberty Humane Society animal shelter in Jersey City is asking for the public’s help as it prepares for an influx of over 500 kittens this 2010 “kitten season”.  It is seeking temporary foster homes for these kittens in an effort to save their lives.  The term kitten season affectionately refers to the warm months from April through November when the birth of kittens in backyards and parks rise. LIBERTY HUMANE SOCIETY NAMED FINALIST IN ZOOTOO.COM’s

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (April XX, 2009) – Liberty Humane Society (LHS), a Jersey City-based non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for stray and orphaned pets, announced today that it is one of the ten finalists in Zootoo.com’s second annual “National Shelter Makeover Program.” Competing against animal shelters from across the country, LHS is the only animal shelter from the New York Tri-State Area to land in the contest finals.
 
The finalists were formerly announced on April 7, 2009 at the HSUS Animal Care Expo in Las Vegas.
 
Zootoo and its advisors chose the 10 finalists based upon their determination of which of the 20 semi-finalists most deserved the makeover. In the final stage, it will be up to America to vote on the most deserving shelter. The shelter with the highest number of public votes will win a makeover valued up to $1 million. Polls open April 13 through April 19, 2009. Affiliates can vote up to 10 times, per day.

LIBERTY HUMANE SOCIETY RANKS FOURTH PLACE IN ZOOTOO.COM'S NATIONAL SHELTER MAKEOVER CONTEST SEMIFINALS
America to Vote on Top Ten Finalists for $1 Million Makeover

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (March XX, 2009) – Liberty Humane Society  (LHS), a Jersey City-based non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for stray and orphaned pets, announced today that it ranked fourth place out of 20 semifinalists in Zootoo.com’s second annual “National Shelter Makeover Program.”

This marks the beginning of the second stage of the three-phase Online contest.  In the first phase, thousands of shelter supporters earned points for their affiliated shelter by being active on Zootoo.com, a social networking site for pet lovers. In the second phase, Zootoo and its advisors will tour the top 20 ranking shelters in order to narrow them down to 10 finalists. [more...]
