Dog Playpen Success!
The Dog Playpen is a Success! Thanks to a group of hard-working volunteers and ALL of your generous contributions. We are proud to say that the Dog Playpen is part of the Interim Expansion! It will be located on the north side of the shelter (parallel to the off ramp from the NJ Turnpike). Finally, we'll have a space where our dogs can play off-leash (burning off excess energy!) and where prospective adopters can socialize with them one-on-one in a safe, confined environment.
The Dog PlayPen has been high on the shelter's wish list for a long time, so please be on the lookout for it very soon! Thank you again for your contributions!

LHS Raffle Success!
At the conclusion of our very exciting 50/50 raffle, we took in a total of $4,037 - more than last year, and the year before that and the year before that! And the winner is ... Dave Miller! In our opinion, Dave Miller is all right. He insisted on keeping only $1,000 of his $2,018 winnings, donating $1,018 back to the LHS! Many, many thanks to all of you who sold tickets, but especially to Ginger Kipps who sold Dave Miller the winning ticket, and on whose behalf Dave is donating the $1,018 back to LHS! Way to go!

LHS Seminar a Success!
LHS sponsored a seminar on Friday, June 9th. Illegal Dogfighting -A Primer for Investigators. The event was a great success with an impressive turnout!! There were thirty Law Enforcement and Humane Law officials in attendance. The speakers were excellent and very informative. Law enforcement officials stated that this seminar would help with leads towards detecting and investigating not only animal fighting but also other illegal activities that are usually associated with dogfighting including drugs and weapons trafficking, illegal gambling and other crimes.
LHS is proud to provide a service like this to our community! We would like to thank our speakers Scott Giacoppo and Richard J. Gallo for offering their time for such a good cause. We would also like to thank the Jersey City Police Academy for providing a conference room to hold the seminar.

Hamilton Park Festival (and adopt-a-thon) -Results
The Liberty Humane Society would like to thank everyone who offered their time to volunteer at the Hamilton Park Festival this past weekend including Andy Krochalk, Lily Kwok, Charity Ramey, Debbie Botha, Joelle Peterson, Mary Schneider, Linda DEsposito, Leah Jacobson, Jennifer Vaughn, Barbara Srivastava and Laura Friedman. It was a really nice day to be out! Unfortunately we did not have any adoptions but Nelly drew a lot of attention as did the cats.
On the positive side, we suspect that at least a few of the people will be calling or coming by the shelter to check out either the animals they met or look for someone more in fitting with their personality. We also sold a few calendars, raffle tickets, and bracelets, and got about $100 in donations.
