8. LHS Hits the Road in Search of Adopters

The homeless animals at LHS may all come from Jersey City and Hoboken, but loving forever homes can be found far and wide. At the beginning of 2012, the staff at LHS embarked upon a plan to incorporate as many mega adoptions events into the calendar as logistically possible.

We’re taking some creative liberty and capturing two extremely successful off-site adoption events into spot #4. Our first major road trip was to White Plains, NY for Best Friend’s Super Adoption Event in April. The LHS cats put on their cutest faces, and by the end of the weekend our shelter had 30 cats adopted - a record-breaking number!

The Animal Welfare Association’s Mega Adoption Event that took place in October was the dogs’ time to shine! We saw twelve dogs off into their new forever homes that weekend. This number is certainly an accomplishment, especially when you consider that each of these were pit-bull type dogs which typically have a harder time getting adopted.

Thanks to our wonderful staff and wonderful volunteers who were a part of these events and made these adoptions possible!
